Deleted Twitter …

January 27th, 2009

And my inbox is so peaceful now.

I never realized how many “marketing professionals” there were until I signed up on Twitter.

Needless to say, adding over 100 “followers” in the span of a few weeks was ridiculous and pointless.  I’m quite happy following the people I want to follow through my RSS feeds.

Bye bye Twitter.  Good luck with that.

On second thought …

January 26th, 2009

An ad from Amazon this morning presented this nugget for my consumption pleasure:

It’s currently estimated that the hedge fund industry exceeds one trillion dollars in assets, and is still growing. Hedge funds are all over the news, as their managers become multi-millionaires and seemingly come up with new, increasingly ostentatious ways to spend their massive fortunes. And until now, the average investor has been kept out of this world, being led to believe that one needs a MBA from a top university and millions of dollars to invest. In Do It Yourself Hedge Funds Wayne Weddington, a senior portfolio manager of one of the world’s top hedge funds, demonstrates how one can learn to play this high-stakes game. Weddington breaks down the complicated rules of hedge funds using easy-to-understand, real-life examples. Weddington explains the basics of hedge funds in layman’s terms, defines the words investors need to know, and lays out the neccesary steps for investing in hedge funds. And even more importantly, he shows the ways in which hedge funds can go wrong, and how to avoid “grift” — those cases in which hedge fund managers use their clients’ money to fund their own lifestyles. Using anecdotal examples and simple, straightforward language, Do It Yourself Hedge Funds will open a new pathway to make millions.
